A Word From The FoysWe need CHILDREN and PRESCHOOL workers. One of the toughest things for our coordinators now is recruiting team members in these areas. These positions are one of the most important parts of a Renewal team and if we can't supply workers for Children and Preschool, many young couples are not going to be able to attend the Renewal Weekends. We need to make this a priority of prayer, especially for the 2012. More and more of our team members are registering on the new CRJ Message Board, but many of the newer ones have yet to serve on a Renewal Weekend. I would like to encourage each team member to make it a goal for 2012 to plan ahead and let our coordinators know if you are able to serve on a given date. Registered team members now have access to the National Schedule of Weekends which is available on the CRJ Message Board and also at www.churchrenewaljourney.net You can scroll to the right on the schedule and see the dates, type of weekends, church and pastor's name and also the coordinator's name and email. We are gradually having more team members to email the assigned coordinators to let them know which weekend dates they are available to attend and help. This is a tremendous encouragement for coordinators as team members contact them and intentionally ask to serve on specific weekends. God has always put the right team members together for each weekend, but we also know that God can speak directly to each team member about serving, especially if the team member is seeking and praying about serving. If you are invited to serve on a Renewal Team, why not ask the coordinator if he could use another team member. Each of us know specific people that would love the experience of serving on a Renewal team and we should be taking every opportunity we have to encourage them to get involved in this awesome ministry. We are going to also need more Youth Coordinators and helpers for 2012, so whatever part of the team you like to serve on let us know. We can sure use your help. Serving with joy,
Bob and Phyllis Foy

We are working on a new Monthly Report Form and will let you know when it is approved. It will be easier to use than the current one. If you are not completing a Monthly Report, we encourage you to do so because Bob is responsible to NAMB to have those reports in his files. Contact Ginger at chappellg@caroina.rr.com for your Monthly Report form.
Remember that you are entitled to two weeks vacation time as you fill out reports this year.
Thank you for your help getting this accomplished.
We have 28 MSC missionaries serving right now. That is great!
Keep up the good work. |

As the New Year begins, it reminds me of a prayer that I heard as a child, "Thank you Lord for a new day to serve you. I pray that this day will benefit me and even more I pray for the opportunity to do what you would have me to do that will Glorify you". A new day is wonderful. Off with the old and on with the new, but how wonderful for us as Christians to have a new year in which to serve Him wherever He calls. We do not know what the new year may bring; however we know who holds the future. Seniors, let's begin each day with a promise to ourselves, "We will serve our God today!" Happy New Year. Maxine Hare

Team Members
We are so thankful for you and your willingness to serve on weekends. We know that God is blessing you and will continue to bless your efforts as you serve.
From Brenda & Tom Boberg, NC State Coordinators on How to Be a Great Team Member on Weekends.
Leading Small Groups:
- Silence really is ok! People may be thinking about the question. People may be waiting for another person to speak up.
- Small groups are for the church The church may be curious about the visiting team, but it isn't about us
- LISTEN! LISTEN! LISTEN! One of the greatest gifts we can ever give to people is to listen.Give a very, very brief testimony only if it is absolutely needed.
- We are not to counsel people. We are not to tell people how to solve their problems. We may be listening to the church "gossip" and would add to the problem if we got involved. If anyone comes to you with an issue, take them and the issue to God in prayer.
- 50 cents will get you Billy Graham and Dear Abby in the same newspaper. There is a lot of advice in the world. Keep your opinion to yourself.
- All churches have politics. Remember we are only hearing one side of the issue. So what do you do? PRAY for the individual telling you about the situation and pray for the situation with them. For those of you who have gone through the Prayer Empowering Weekend - pray KINGDOM focused prayers.
- Pray that the situation, illness, crisis, attitude, will lead others to Jesus.
- Pray for the protection from the evil one, and pray that in all ways that we are a people of integrity.
May God bless you as you continue on your journey

National Youth Coordinators
Jennifer & Larry Darnell
This past weekend, I went to a youth conference where 3000+ young people had gathered. I am sure the majority of these young people were "church-attending" youth.
The first night Tony Nolan, a great youth speaker, preached the Word from Matthew 7:21-23. A simple message that suggested many know about God and salvation but few actually believe it. And literally hundreds of youth responded, many from my church's youth group.
It is a good reminder that renewal can occur in lots of places. We can lose sight of the goal and get discouraged when we do not see "results" on a given weekend. But remember what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 that we are to plant a seed or water but only God provides the increase in His time and in His way.
Church Renewal Weekends are all about planting a seed or watering...don't give up when you fail to see growth because God is still working. May the Lord bless you and your work with youth today!

In Psalm 27 we read that children are a heritage of the Lord. I believe our Father speaks to us many times through children. Their minds are not nearly as cluttered as ours might be due to the span of time spent on the earth.
What a privilege it is to be able to work with children and if you have been called to this area of ministry in Church Renewal please receive the blessings that are in store for you. Treasure every moment you have with our children. Teach them to talk to Jesus and pray that their hearts will be open to His calling. Because we have wanted our children to have good self esteem, we may have been guilty of teaching them to be self-centered more that Christ centered.
As a Children's Worker, you have been placed in a very valuable position. I pray that not one child that is touched by a Church Renewal worker will grow to adulthood without coming to a saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

National Preschool Coordinators
IT'S FINALLLY HERE!!! 2012! We've been waiting for it at least 365 days! It's time to focus on new things. So, what did you decide would be your focus for 2012? These are a few of the things I'm focusing on this year: looking for new resources to recommend for preschool/children's workers, reading from a new devotional book, and most important of all-being committed to hearing and responding to the voice of my Savior. You may be asking how these are related enough to write about in this newsletter. - A new recommendation: While visiting LifeWay bookstore, I spotted a book I had not seen before-Hermie: A Common Caterpillar by Max Lucado (Tommy Nelson, 2011). Hermie, a smart little caterpillar who has a knack for delivering to-the-point messages, feels like he's just a common caterpillar although many of his friends have special spots or stripes. During the course of the story, Hermie discovers that God has a very special surprise in store for him. God isn't finished making him into the special creation He wants him to be. I plan to use this delightful book in the Awakening weekend.
- A new resource: I plan to stay in touch with preschool workers by offering a newsletter with tips, ideas, and resources to help you prepare for working with Preschoolers during the Church Renewal Journey events. I've started a mailing list (email list, that is), and I would like to make it available to all who are interested in working with young children. Please let me know how I can help you make the Weekends meaningful to the young children.
- A new devotional book: "In Right from the Heart: Turning Your Day toward God", by Bryant Wright, the reading for January begins with Isaiah 43:18-19: Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? From this reading I determined that what I accomplished (or failed to accomplish) in 2011, and in the years before, are forever in the past. While they may be good memories or part of my heritage, these things are gone! History! But the next part of the Scripture is very important-Behold I will do something new...will you not be aware of it? Are YOU ready? Will you be aware of it? In Church Renewal Journey, we get to see God at work during each Weekend AND in the preparation for the weekends IF we are aware and are expecting Him to be there among us.
- A new commitment: While I may not be like Hermie, a caterpillar that becomes a beautiful butterfly, I'm looking forward to seeing the new that God is creating within me. I hope you too are looking forward to seeing what will spring forth as God's people are willing to be re-created into something new. Ask yourself: What does God want from me in this new year? What is He wanting to make new within me?
Looking forward to what God will spring forth, Beth and Gary Anderson National Preschool Coordinators Bethanderson926@comcast.net
